Why it was recalled

Since the rim is not marked with the rim size and the DOT designation, a tire of the incorrect size may be installed on this rim, affecting the handling of the scoter and increasing the risk of a crash.

What was recalled

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2017 BMW C650 GT and BMW C Evolution scooters for failing to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, "Wheels and rims-other than passenger cars." The front rims may not be marked with the required rim type and the DOT designation.

What to do

BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace any rims that are not correctly marked, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 26, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.. Follow the official notice for full instructions.
