An unexpected increase in steering effort can result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
What was recalled
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024-2025 M 1000 XR, and M 1000 R motorcycles. The steering damper may have a loose valve pin within the housing, which can cause an unexpected increase in steering effort.
What to do
Dealers will replace the steering damper, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 5, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.. Follow the official notice for full instructions.
