Why it was recalled
The recall was initiated due to New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene laboratory results from two samples of Karawan brand tahini testing positive for Salmonella. The recall was expanded to cover SoCo brand Tahini.
Class I is the FDA’s most serious recall level: there is a reasonable probability that using this product will cause serious harm or death.
