EDITOR'S NOTE: FSIS has edited the release first issued on February 22, 2014 to reflect a change in the product codes for iMASTRO Sopressata Round” and iMASTRO Sopressata Salami”. WASHINGTON, Feb. 26, 2014 Santa Maria Foods Corporation, a Rexdale, Ontario, Canada establishment, is recalling approximately 8,895 pounds of various meat products, because they were imported without the benefit of full USDA inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Without full inspection, a remote possibility of adverse health consequences exists. The following Santa Maria Foods Corporation products are subject to recall: [ View Labels (PDF Only)] 11.1-oz. iSopressata Salami” bearing package code i2014AL30” 5.1-lbs. iMASTRO Milano Salami” bearing package code i2014JN17” 5.3-lbs. iMASTRO Calabrese Salami Hot” bearing package code i2014JL08” or i2014JN17” 8.4-lbs. iMASTRO Sopressata Round” bearing package code i2014JL12” 2.6-lbs. iMASTRO Sopressata Salami” bearing package code i2014JL08” 13.3-lbs. iMASTRO Mortadella with Pistachios” bearing package code i2014AL09” 15.0-lbs. iMASTRO Jambon de Paris Cooked Ham Jambon Cuit” bearing package code i2014AL05,” i2014AL10,” i2014AL10,” i2014AL10” or i2014AL22” 16.8-lbs. iMASTRO Mortadella” bearing package code i2014MR20” Packages will bear the Canadian establishment number i340” or i224.” The products were distributed into commerce in Arizona, California and Florida. The products were also exported by the US distributor to Australia, Tahiti, New Zealand, Fiji and Thailand. The problem was discovered when FSIS import staff reviewed records and discovered that the product was not presented by the independent third party carrier for USDA inspection at the U.S. Canadian border.
