What was recalled
WASHINGTON, May 19, 2016 ConAgra Foods Packaged Foods, LLC, a Council Bluffs, Iowa establishment, is recalling approximately 84,340 pounds of two beef products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products were inadvertently formulated with Worcestershire sauce and may contain fish (anchovies), a known allergen that is not declared on the product label. The frozen beef items were produced between April 13 and April 14, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: [ View Labels (PDF Only)] 14-oz. box of Marie Callenders Salisbury Steak with Roasted Potatoes and Home-Style Gravy served with Cheesy Broccoli & Cauliflower with package code of 5014610500 and packaging date of April 14, 2016. 76-oz. package of Mollys Kitchen Macaroni & Beef with Tomato Sauce with package code of 5014610400 and packaging date of April 13, 2016. The products subject to recall bear establishment number EST. 1058 inside the USDA mark of inspection. The Marie Callenders item was shipped to retail distribution centers nationwide and the Mollys Kitchen item was shipped to an institutional customer nationwide. The problem was discovered when the establishment became aware of an error associated with a shipment of Worcestershire sauce. The Worcestershire sauce was miscoded as Rochester sauce and the establishment subsequently used the miscoded sauce in the recalled products. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
