EDITORS NOTE: This release is being reissued as the second expansion of the April 7, 2016, recall to include additional products and production dates. Details of this release were also updated to reflect a change in poundage and distribution area. The first recall 027-2016 on April 7, 2016, recalled 40,780 pounds of fully cooked chicken nugget products. The recall expansion on April 26, 2016 recalled an additional 4,524,980 pounds of fully cooked chicken product. The second recall expansion on May 6, 2016 recalled an additional 608,764 pounds of product. The combined number of recalled product from April 7, 2016 to May 6, 2016 is 5,176,844 pounds. WASHINGTON, May 6, 2016 Pilgrims Pride Corp., a Waco, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 5,176,844 pounds of fully cooked chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The scope of this recall expansion now includes a variety of chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous metal materials. The chicken products were produced on various dates between May 6, 2015, and Dec. 3, 2015.
