Why it was recalled

Traceback investigation into an outbreak of Salmonella Newport illnesses found red onions to be a suspect vehicle for the outbreak. After notification from FDA, firm initiated a recall.

Class I is the FDA’s most serious recall level: there is a reasonable probability that using this product will cause serious harm or death.
