What was recalled
Timken Company (Timken) is recalling certain Rear Hub Unit Bearings , part numbers HB5Z1104A and HA590446 sold by Timken for installation on 2011-2017 Ford Explorer 4X2 vehicles. These Rear Hub Unit Bearings with Ford branding, were manufactured without a self retention feature, possibly resulting in the separation of the wheel or wheel end.
What to do
Timken will notify the known owners and the distributors that received the parts, and dealers will provide a replacement rear hub unit bearing, free of charge. The recall began on August 1, 2017.
