If the speed sensor wire breaks, the speedometer will not work, increasing the risk of a crash.
What was recalled
Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain model year 2015 XC155F SMAX scooters manufactured September 17, 2014, to October 27, 2015. The affected motorcycles may have an insufficiently clamped speed sensor lead wire, causing the wire to fatigue and break.
What to do
Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will replace the speed sensor assembly, free of charge. The recall began on January 27, 2017. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990111.. Follow the official notice for full instructions.
